Describing Digital Portfolios
1. What is a blog? Wiki? What is the difference between them?
A blog is a discussion or informational
site published on the World Wide Web. It consists of posts typically displayed
in reverse chronological order. A wiki is a website that allows users to add,
modify or delete its content. The difference is that in a blog you can have
conversations which include many people and a wiki is more independent and
usually gives information.
2. What are the three important features of a digital portfolio?
- · They are goal-driven and show the life and work of the owner.
- · They allow parents to see the work of the student without interpretation of the grades.
- · If they are maintained properly they can compare the work of the student over time.
3. List one advantage and one disadvantage of a digital portfolio?
One advantage of a digital portfolio:
It can be seen anywhere across the globe
One disadvantage of a digital portfolio:
The information on the portfolio can be
easily copied and pasted or saved on another person’s computer.

I like the way she used yellow at the top to add color and creativity. She uses subtitles to organize and make her paragraphs clear and understandable. She talks about all aspects of her work and also includes some personal information. I think this portfolio could be improved with a few exciting pictures.
- http://artfulmemoirs.weebly.com/ I really like this portfolio for many reasons, its creative, looks good and the student also includes lots of appropriate information. I like the way she has her 'contents' to the side of the portfolio, this could show that she is organized and neat, everything is in order. In this portfolio she talks about one main subject however uses sub-headings to organize her work. I think she could have improved by using a more exciting font to write with or adding a few more pictures throughout the digital portfolio.

I think it was a very good idea to split her portfolio into different pages which helps keep the viewer interested and not confused. I think a more exciting font could have been more appealing and would make her digital portfolio more interesting.
